Crystal Ball – the 2028 Presidential Election

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has announced his candidacy for President in 2028.  He obviously wants to get a jump on the rest of the field for the Republican nomination.  Kennedy also ran in 2024 (does that make him an “also-ran”?).

President Trump has said it is too early for him to back Vice President Vance or anyone else.

Whoever the President does back will have a big advantage.  When the time comes, if all goes well, he will likely back JD Vance.  Note in the news that Vance sits in with Trump on meetings at the White House.  Not many VPs get to do that; most VP choices are just window-dressing. Being present at White House meetings gives Vance opportunities to show his stuff (or show he does not have it).  It is too early to call, but at this point it looks like the 2028 GOP nomination is Vance’s to lose.

The Dems have nobody and are in astonishing disarray.  The bet is for Vance to win it in 2028 and again in 2032, and that he will likewise groom his VP to win after that.

The GOP is on a roll, as long as they stick to Trump’s game plan.  Trump has shown them the way to win.

The worst thing for the GOP would be for a candidate like George W. Bush, John McCain, and Mitt Romney to come to the fore.  Those mediocre hungry-for-power types are losers who would be a great opportunity for the Democrats to win.
