Command Sergeant Major Peter K. Heggie currently serves as the CSM for the 117th Engineer Brigade.  He is the senior enlisted advisor to the Brigade Commander.

Command Sergeant Major Heggie is originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.  In 1994, he enlisted in the South Carolina Army National Guard as an Artilleryman (13B).  He is a graduate from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of General Studies. His military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Combat Engineer (12B) Reclassification Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course, Senior Leaders Course, Unit Movement Officers Course, Improvised Explosive Device Awareness Course, Route Clearance/ Route Reconnaissance Operators Course, Battle Staff Operation Course, the United States Sergeants Major Course, SEJPME I and II, Brigade Pre-Command Course, and Joint Engineer Operations Course.

Command Sergeant Major Heggie’ s senior leadership positions include: First Sergeant, 125 Multi Role Bridge Company, Abbeville, SC; Command Sergeant Major, 178 Engineer Battalion, Rock Hill, SC.

Command Sergeant Major Heggie is a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He has participated in overseas training exercises in Germany, Romania, and Jordan. He also has served on active duty in support of COVID-19.

Command Sergeant Major Heggie is married to Dianne Heggie of Buffalo, NY. They have three children and eight grandchildren.  He is a member of the Palmetto Chapter - Army Engineer Association, member and volunteer with the Renovation Church, Mentor for the South Carolina Youth Challenge Program and a Lifetime member of the National Guard Association of South Carolina. He currently works for BMW Manufacturing since 1996, in Spartanburg, SC. They currently reside in Simpsonville, SC.●
