Laurens, SC - June is another month of great programs scheduled at the Laurens County Museum including a Revolutionary War lecture, an exhibit opening of Vintage Laurens County Quilts including some from the mid-1800’s, and the museum will be a stop on the SC Ag&Art Tour.  All events are open to the public. The museum is located at 116 South Public Square, Laurens, SC.  

The museum’s Revolutionary War Lecture Series continues Tuesday, June 11, at 7:00 PM.  Historian and battlefield preservationist Durant Ashmore will speak about “The Day it Rained Militia” in the Revolutionary War.   Museum members and those 18 years old and under are free to attend.  Others are encouraged to support the museum with a $5 donation.  Memberships are available that evening.

The museum’s extensive antique quilt collection will be displayed in an exhibit that will open on June 22 at 10:00 am.  Quilts as old as 170 years will be presented.  Other quilting workshops and opportunities will be held later in the summer.  Watch for dates and times.  It is free for all to visit the exhibit.  Some workshops will have a participation fee.

The Laurens County Museum is honored to be a stop on the SC Ag&Art Tour on June 29 and 30.  Come to the museum to see local artists demonstrate their work and display their talents.  Free admission, but the artists will have artwork available for purchase.
