Mayoral Minutes...The Next Four Years

S690-1.jpgI am humbled and honored to have run unopposed in this year’s election for Mayor of the best city in America, Fountain Inn. Thank you to my family and friends for their support, and thank you to the community for your trust.

Take a walk down Main Street and you’ll see renovated storefronts, new businesses open and more on the way, young families and familiar faces all making new memories together - our community is thriving.

We’ve seen landmark investments in public safety with the largest police pay increase in our city’s history and just this summer we secured $4 million for our third fire station and a fire training facility.

We’ve taken major steps in improving our infrastructure - doubling local road funding, successfully working with DOT on getting more state road projects moving in town, and securing over $10 million in grant funding for sewer rehabilitation work.

We’ve upgraded nearly every city park, including a $3 million facelift for Sanctified Hill Park, and are finalizing a Parks Master Plan to not only help prioritize additional upgrades, but also prepare for new parks and new programs.

We’ve made City Hall more transparent and accessible, and we’ve strengthened relationships from Main Street to DC to benefit our citizens.

There’s a lot of good in Fountain Inn’s future - the implementation of our new Comprehensive Plan and our new Parks Master Plan, stronger public services, continued improvements to our historic downtown - more parking, more green space, more businesses and jobs, and more small town charm.

But the next four years won’t only be focused on what we need to do to prepare for tomorrow, it’s about how we’re going to do it. Because we’ve got a lot left to do and, more importantly, do right.

We’re going to continue to lead Fountain Inn with a passion and seriousness for the work of governing. We’re going to continue working collaboratively with each and every one of you to ensure everyone has a seat at their community’s table. We’re not going to pretend to be perfect, but rather we’re going to remain open to new ideas and keep alive a desire to fill our room for improvement. We’re going to be intentional, respectful, and serve with an open heart.

We’re going to love our neighbor.

That’s how we’ll tackle the opportunities and challenges of the next four years - together and for each other.

Thank you for the opportunity to continue serving our home, Fountain Inn.■
