City of Simpsonville breaks ground on new municipal complex

Simpsonville, S.C. — The City of Simpsonville and Edifice General Contractors hosted on Feb. 23 a groundbreaking ceremony for a brand new municipal complex, one of the City’s most ambitious and significant projects in recent history.

Held at 11 a.m. onsite on the 400 block of East Curtis Street, the ground-breaking ceremony celebrated the start of construction on the Simpsonville Municipal Complex that will house a two-story 30,000 sq. ft. City Hall and police department head-quarters. A 22,000 sq. ft. fire department headquarters will also be built.

Open to the public, the ceremony featured remarks by Simpsonville Mayor Paul Shewmaker, Edifice Vice President, Mike Carlisto, Greenville County Councilman Butch Kirven and the ground-breaking itself with stakeholders.

“The new municipal complex is the next step in revitalizing downtown Simpsonville and accommodating the positive growth throughout the rest of the City,” Simpsonville Community Relations Specialist Justin Campbell said. “This expanive and consequential project is made possible by the partnership among the City, Bolton & Menk,  DP3 Architects,  Edifice and Greenville County. Their contributions and work are invaluable  to a space that will serve the public for decades to come.”
