The City of Simpsonville kicked off the holiday season once again by holding the 4th Annual Simpsonville Tree Lighting Ceremony Dec. 1 at City Hall.

Held on the City Hall front lawn at 6-6:30 p.m., the Ceremony featured the lighting of the 22.5-foot Christmas Tree, “Christmas Carol Medley” sing-along, reading from the Book of Luke, “Letters to Santa” station for the kids and hot chocolate and cookies.

Mayor Paul Shewmaker led the countdown to the lighting of the tree.

“The Annual Simpsonville Tree Lighting Ceremony is a great time for the community to come together, start the holiday season and watch a beautiful tree light up downtown,” Shewmaker said.

To allow for a safe Ceremony, Northeast Main Street was closed from College to Curtis streets from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. on the day of the tree lighting.

The Annual Simpsonville Tree Lighting Ceremony began in 2019 and is expected to remain a tradition in the City of Simpsonville for years to come.
