The City of Simpsonville has welcomed Melissa Sturgis as the new Arts Center Manager. She has extensive theater, special events coordination, media/community relations, and related arts experience. Melissa was the successful candidate out of a field of excellent and highly qualified individuals. According to Mayor Shewmaker, “The City is confident her enthusiasm and creativity will be just right for this important position. She will operate under limited supervision, report to the City Administrator and will be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the Arts Center for the City of Simpsonville, including art shows, special events and performances.”

Her first day on the job was May 31.

The Arts Center has already been a lovely focal point for the arts in Simpsonville hosting an art show and serving as the venue for the Memorial Day ceremony of remembrance. The Mill Town Players begin their 2022-23 season with the musical Children of Eden July 22 through August 7.■
