Informed People

This is the first of a monthly column to explore the idea that informed people create honest government. Becoming informed should not be as hard as we find it to be. Although we can view legislators in session at scstatehouse.gov, the average working citizen often cannot find the time to watch a full session. Where do we go for the cliff notes? I hope to help with that.

There is too little transparency and open communication between our state legislators and the people, and too many decisions are made behind closed doors. Any information we do receive is riddled with bias, prejudice, or out-right propaganda. Why? Because too many people holding office in our government are consumed with the lust of power! Others are too meek to stand up against the power hungry.

We should realize the question is not, “Is our voice being heard in government?” but recognize that we are the voice of government. I want to be a part of the process of creating honest government; that is why I am running for South Carolina House of Representatives District #27.

In the movie, A Few Good Men, the character Jack Nicholson says the famous line, “You can’t handle the truth!” Well, we the people, believe we can handle the truth, and as a matter a fact, we deserve the truth!

Where are we with the legislature to protect South Carolinians from losing their jobs over the vaccine mandate?

The first week in December our Statehouse voted to refrain, yes refrain, from calling S.177 out of committee and onto the floor to be amended. If it was brought to the floor and amended, it would have addressed the vaccine mandate and prevented thousands of South Carolinians from losing their jobs by December 6th.

Do your research to see what your representative is doing to protect the jobs of South Carolinians. Term limits are in our hands; it is called our vote.■
