Obituary - Roger & Edith LeGros

GREENVILLE - Roger Frank LeGros and Edith “Faye” Holliman LeGros peacefully entered into eternal rest together on October 27, 2021. On October 11, 2021, they celebrated 35 years of marital bliss and were hopelessly devoted to one another. Together, they enjoyed the life they built in Greenville, SC, and were considered beloved members of their community by all who knew them.

S206-1.jpgRoger, age 79, was born to Gladys and Lee LeGros in Jennings, Louisiana, on October 21, 1942. Faye, age 72, was born to Ada Mae and David Holliman in Laurel, Mississippi, on April 1, 1949.

Roger began his career in master plumbing in Lake Charles, Louisiana, then went on to enjoy a long, successful career in the construction industry, which afforded him the opportunity to work on variety of large projects across the U.S, as well as abroad. Roger saved the most successful part of his career for last as he began his own consulting company under the name LeGros Marketing. Roger’s drive, motivation, and gregarious personality all contributed to his professional success and helped make him the self-made man that he was. Faithfully always by his side was Faye, who supported and balanced him all along the way. No one would argue that Faye was part of the reason for his success. In Roger’s leisure time, he enjoyed woodworking, LSU/Saints football, golf, and writing letters to the editor on issues he cared deeply and passionately about. Together, Roger and Faye enjoyed the company of their family and friends.

Faye enjoyed gardening and made certain that their home was a showcase of her passion and talent. Faye’s dedication led her to become a Master Gardener and was a very active member of the Greenville Master Gardener Association. She was also greatly involved in the Fountain Inn Garden Club and many of the beautification efforts in their community. Her passion for gardening eventually led to an intense interest in butterflies. Faye soon began to harvest butterflies, and for years, greatly contributed to the monarch butterfly population. Nothing pleased her more than to demonstrate the harvesting process to family, friends, and children. Her enthusiasm was infectious as she inspired others, and many sought her advice on both gardening and harvesting butterflies. In 2018, she made a guest appearance on the Peggy Denny Show. The embodiment of grace, it is no wonder that she became known to many as Madame Butterfly.

Roger and Faye are survived by their three children: Roger LeGros, Jr. (Michelle), Michelle Starkey (Amos), and Dreux LeGros (Vickie); and two grandchildren, Zachary Schuler, and Emma LeGros.

Faye is also survived by her sister, Lenell Ford of Petal, MS, and brothers: William Oscar Holliman, James Earl Holliman, and John Riley Holliman, all of Ovett, MS. She was preceded in death by siblings: Lois Holliman Goldman, Bobby Joe Holliman, Gladys Marie Holliman Smith, Annie Mae Holliman, Mary Elizabeth Holliman Hinton, Johnnie Velma Holliman Stewart, Donis Holliman Crew, Emma Holliman, and George Edward Holliman.

Pop Crawdad and Madame Butterfly are gone too soon and will be deeply missed by all whose lives they touched.

The family is planning a celebration of their life together at a time, date, and location yet to be determined.■
