Clearing Up Some Misconceptions

So you think you like Socialism?  If so, you are part of the problem.

What Problem?

S1189-1.jpgThis quote seen on Facebook makes it clear the problem with Socialism:

“A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said, ‘I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that sports car cost.’

“I replied, ‘I am not sure, but it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it; it fed the people who make the tires; it fed the people who made the components that went into it; it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires; it fed people in Decatur IL at Caterpillar who made the trucks that hauled the copper ore.

‘It also fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working at the dealership and their families.”

Generalize that thinking to the rest of your life.

If you own a car, then whatever the make and model, just like the owner of that Corvette, the jobs held by the people who built your car allowed them to afford a place to live, to afford the car or other transportation they used, to afford the food that kept them fed, to afford the vacations they take, and more.

The same thing is true about where you live.  Whether it is a house, a town home, or an apartment, the erection of the building supports and fed those who did the work.

Contrast that with Socialism.

In Socialism, a government bureaucrat decides what types of cars are made – the body style, the paint color, and the features – what we who enjoy living under Capitalism would call, the options.

The same kind of control is evient in the construction of homes and apartments.

That government bureaucrat is only interested in satisfying his supervisor – not you, the public who might want to buy a car or live in an apartment.  Quality workmanship ceases to have a place in that setting.

If you are aware of the automobiles sold in the Soviet Union and Communist Eastern Europe in the 1960s and 1970s, you know they were ugly, Spartan, and poorly made – a marked contrast with American, European, and Japanese cars.

American manufacturers must satisfy the desires of their would-be American customers, in competition with other companies with the same goals.

But in socialist countries, manufacturers only have to please some government bureaucrat.

In America, the seller of a car must attract buyers – and can only do that by designing a car that has the looks and features that prospective buyers want.

You as an American work to earn the money to buy the house, car, and other things you want to own.

Socialists will deride that behavior, and call it “greed” with a dismissive tone of voice.  The only greed allowed under Socialism is the high taxes demanded of those with any money.

But how many Socialists do you actually see in America?  Does a self-acclaimed Socialist home-owner or apartment-dweller let people – strangers – move into his extra bedrooms?  Does he label the kitchen, dining room, and living room a “common area”, with only his bedroom remaining for his own personal use?  That is the hallmark lifestyle of people forced to live under Socialism.

“Greed” is the label given to those who resist that kind of arrangement.

If you are a Socialist, why do you not voluntarily live the way you would necessarily live under Socialism?

Why are you being greedy?

American economist, economic historian, and writer Thomas Sowell said it very well:  “I have never understood why it is ‘greed’ to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take someone else’s money.”

Bottom Line

Socialism can only be established by force.

Freedom and Socialism are antithetical to each other.

And the overall results paint a telling picture:  140,000,000 people have been put to death by Socialists.

Enforcing Socialism dictates a heavy price.

What is your choice?  To be associated with humanity’s worst all-time killers, or to stand for the “greed” of Freedom and the resulting prosperity – the “Pursuit of Happiness” – that uniformly goes with it?

Parting Quote

“Socialists in America say they hate capitalism.  But the truth is, they can’t live without it.  Think about it: Uber, Amazon, Netflix, AirBnB.  Millions of people use these services.  These are all products of capitalism, and guess what?  People love them.”  (by PragerU)
