Mauldin Garden Club October 2025

In September, the Mauldin Garden Club celebrated 20 years in the advancement of gardening and the beautification of our homes and community.  One charter member, Ann Smith, was present.  She is still a very active and valuable member.   Sandra Puzsik, a garden club member, catered a delicious meal which we happily devoured. Our special guests, representing the city of Mauldin, were Seth Duncan, city administrator; Gregory Saxton, assistant city administrator; Willie Stewart, assistant recreation director; and Catherine Petro, Chamber of Commerce.  Jeanie Knighten demonstrated how to press flowers and use pressed flower arrangements to print beautiful note cards.

October 11th is our semi-annual plant sale.  We will also have baked goods and yard sale “treasures.”  Plant sale location is the pavilion at Mauldin City Park near the Ray Hopkins Senior Center. The hours are 9:00 AM to 12 noon, and all proceeds will support the local Mauldin Garden Club.

S1154-1.jpgS1154-2.jpgWe maintain a section of the Urban Arboretum at the Greenville Council of Garden Club’s Headquarters, the Kilgore-Lewis House. Two mosquito buckets were decorated by club members, Jan Miller and Karen Pilman, and placed in our section to make visiting the Arboretum healthier and much more pleasant!  For more information on a mosquito bucket for your own yard:  https:// homegrownnationalpark.org/mosquito- bucket.

Mauldin Garden Club wants to sponsor a Mauldin student (entering 10th grade or higher in high school by fall of 2026) to attend Camp Wildwood in the summer of 2026.   Camp Wildwood focuses on the study of wildlife and outdoor skills, including forestry, hunter education, fisheries, and more.

Join us Monday, October 13th at 1:00 PM at the Mauldin Cultural Center for our next meeting.  Josh Borenstein from South Pleasantburg Nursery will speak on growing blueberries.
