Mauldin Garden Club News MAY 2025

S1048-1.jpgS1048-2.jpgThe Mauldin Garden Club has elected new officers for the 2025-26 year. They are  (left-right) Jim Frasier - 1st VP, Kiki Mikkelson - Corresponding Sec, Linda Baer - 3rd VP, Paulette Aguilar - 2nd VP, Necie Shearer - President, Jewel Burger - Recording Sec, and Rich Chinchar - Treasurer. Officers will be installed at the May 12th meeting.

Many thanks to everyone who came out to our plant sale in April. The successful sale allowed us to sponsor a student at Camp Wildwood. Linda Baer, President and Rich Chinchar, Treasurer gave a check to Mr. Dupree to use for an eligible camper. We would like to sponsor a local student for this camp experience next year. If you know of a student who might like to attend please contact us for further information.

Jewel Burger worked with Principal, Gwen Johnson, and the class room teachers at Mauldin Christian Academy to have a seed planting day for students in the 2nd grade. Mauldin Garden Club provided seeds, soil, and patient instructors - Necie Shearer, Jim Frasier, Paulette Aguilar, and Jewel Burger. They helped all the little hands get their project done for mother's day gifts.

The City of Mauldin gave us the go ahead for the Native Fence Garden next to the Mauldin Cultural Center. We purchased 19 plants at the Native Plant Club sale and have put them in around the fence. A map of what we planted with information on them is being put together, we hope to have it available soon. With any garden this is the starting point. There are more plants we will be adding as we see which thrive and which need to be replaced.●
