Street Survival Tactics

Welcome back Street Survivors.

We are beginning a new series on organizations that help families be more secure in unique ways.

Most Psychologist’s, Sociologists, Family Counsellors and Church Pastors would acknowledge the value of having a Dad living in the home compared to the many broken homes and single Mom’s we see today. Of course, that Dad should be a stand-up guy, not a physical or verbal abuser.  No wife or child should ever suffer in those circumstances.

One group that I recently met at a men’s conference has been helping men become better husbands, fathers and leaders as God designed them to be. In fact, that’s basically their mission statement. Men’s Alliance was started in January 2017 by David Mills, callsign ‘Goose’, because he wanted something way more real than a monthly meeting of men eating coffee cake and reading the same standard devotion book. Proverbs 27:17 is the backbone of Men’s Alliance, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” David wanted a group of men that were ready to get physically and spiritually tough like the warriors of old, men that would bare their souls, describe their challenges, ask for help and help someone else. The Men’s Alliance Motto: Tribal, Rugged and Real.

S1045-3.jpgMen’s Alliance consists of tribes of men that meet in-person every week for a rugged outdoor workout and real-world devotion around a fire. Their website explains much more about their values, tribe locations and how to get involved. www.mensalliancetribe.com. Probably the best recommendation for the success of this group comes from the wives of the men that participate. Many of them credit the tribe to saving their marriages, improving their relationships with their children and many other solid recommendations. Stronger husbands make for stronger families.

Some of the values Men’s Alliance promotes are: Honor, Encouragement, Trust, Feedback, Humility and Perseverance. The men work together as a team, not competitors. During the outdoor workouts which can consist of everything from lifting benches over their heads to flipping tractor tires, if a man struggles, another comes along to help. A great bond is formed, and the tribe is also strengthened.

S1045-2.jpgAfter attending 3 meetings, a man is given a call-sign to welcome him into the tribe. He then begins working on the second level of training which is leadership, and results in a man earning his challenge coin. The third level of training results in earning the Men’s Alliance patch by completing a 10-week discipleship program that trains men how to share the gospel and answer tough questions about their faith.  This Discipleship training is an important part of the reason that Men’s Alliance has exploded from the initial tribe in Virginia, to the 228 tribes across the U.S. and 5 other countries. Applications to start a new tribe average at least 10 each month. I recently was approved to start a new tribe here in the Simpsonville/Greenville area, so you might hear more about that as things progress.

Spiritual warfare is a real thing, and it threatens us just as much as physical warfare. Being prepared for anything is why we train and constantly improve ourselves. Finish Strong, is the goal of all tribesmen and good advice for Street Survivors as well.

Rick ‘Pirate Hunter’ Grover strongly believes we are all in this together, and the more we learn and train, the better we will be prepared for any eventuality. This makes all of us part of an amazing neighborhood team of American Patriots.

God Bless America!
