What a radical change the last few months have brought to the political environment we live in!

Could anyone have foreseen the likes of Trump’s second term as President, even having lived through his first term?

Trump version two is so different even from what we saw during his first term that you could almost use the old cliché:  “Who are you, and what have you done with Donald Trump?”

With the brilliant genius of Elon Musk at his side, plus all of the other pro-freedom, pro-capitalist people whom he has appointed as part of his Administration, such as South Dakota’s Kristi Noem, the second Trump Presidency is bringing about the most radical political change the United States has experienced (not to mention its impact on the rest of the world) since the end of World War II.

The old leftist anti-freedom, pro-government control and spending policies are melting away!

That the second Trump Presidency is so radically different and so substantially improved over the first Trump Presidency makes one wonder if it should be a law that a President’s election to a second term should not be for a consecutive term.  

Trump’s four-year break was a great “time-out”, giving him time to rethink his agenda and overall strategy without the day-to-day pressures of office.

It also made painfully obvious the utter failure of the four years Joe Biden’s Presidency – not to mention the blatantly illegal activities of Biden and his son.

Politics is the foundation on which a country’s economy must function, and in his second term Trump is making every effort to re-establish Americans’ freedoms and wreck the edifice of political roadblocks that have been accumulating over the last several decades – arguably, over the last century.  

Trump has also done something no other President – Democrat or Republican – has done:  undertaken the reduction of the Federal deficit.

DOGE – Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency – has been the primary avenue of that effort.  Musk’s tremendous genius, which he has put to use to create a new and successful automobile company and which he has used to create a profitable and successful space-launch company, is now being applied to the challenge of reining in Federal spending, eliminating wasteful spending, and reducing the Federal bureaucracy.  

That bureaucracy is itself a danger to American freedom.  That bureaucracy is virtually a fourth branch of government, enacting regulations that regularly impact Americans’ lives, all the while not being answerable to the American public – i.e., functionally dictatorial in their actions.

So far, Musk’s DOGE has eliminated so much waste, corruption, and bureaucratic jobs in Federal government that by March 14th, it was able to report it had eliminated over $115 billion – i.e., $700 per taxpayer.

That savings is more crucial than might be obvious:  the Federal debt is growing faster than the economy.  The U.S. is spending itself broke.

That $115 billion is at least a start.  Elon Musk’s stated goal is to reduce the cost of the government by a total of $1 trillion by the deadline set by President Trump of July 4th, 2026.  He is doing that by (1) cutting Federal spending, (2) shrinking the government’s workforce, and (3) increasing the efficiency of federal agencies.  

That $115 billion should probably be considered “low-hanging fruit”; that completion date is not all the far in the future.
