Mauldin employees and residents recognized at Council Meeting

February’s meeting of the Mauldin City Council included the recognition of several of the City’s residents for their accomplishments.

S1007-1.jpgJoel Brockman was recognized for his involvement over the years as a part of the Mauldin city government. Mr. Brockman was a City Council member in the 1990s and later served on both the Planning Commission and the Zoning Board.

American Legion Post 271 presented awards recognizing the accomplishments of three Mauldin City employees.

S1007-2.jpgDetective Willson’s award read, “The American Legion – Mauldin Post 27 would like to present – 2025 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year to Jenna Wilson.  The recipient is chosen, and the selection process is based on exemplary service, dedication, bravery, and contributions to public safety.  This award recognizes the Officer who goes above and beyond the call of duty to serve and protect our Community.”

The background material included a history of Detective Willson’s investigation of a four-year-old cold case, an unsolved murder.  She discovered clues and evidence missed in the original investigation, which pointed to a person not previously suspected, who subsequently confessed to the crime and provided details only the suspect could know.

Detective Willson has a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling.
