Mayoral Minutes... Spend Your Summer INN Town

S338-1.jpgWe all know that Fountain Inn shines at Christmas time, but summer here is just as wonderful.

In April, we kicked off, what I like to call, our “event season”. Mac Arnold held his 16th Annual Collard Greens & Cornbread Festival, followed by our Police Department’s annual Superhero 5K for Autism Awareness, and then we hosted the first-ever Italian Heritage Festival. It was a busy start to the season.

As we move into the summer months, you can expect our team to deliver even more family fun in our downtown. Whether it’s the Sounds of Summer concerts every Friday night starting in June, or our Saturday morning Farmers Market - you’ll find something to do in town throughout the summer. Plus, we’ve got the best Independence Day celebration around, this year on Saturday July 2 and featuring local favorites, Cravin’ Melon.

You can find out about all of our events on our website, fountaininn.org.

But y’all, let me just take a minute to talk about why these things are so important to our community.

A couple years ago at our Council Retreat, we talked about what “community” really is all about, and the definition, in part, that we landed upon was that communities are centered around “shared experiences”.

Summer, and our events, are part of the Fountain Inn “shared experience”. At our events, you’ll bump into old friends and neighbors. You’ll meet new people, frequent local shops, and enjoy live music, games, vendors, and our beautiful southern weather.

Carriage rides at Christmas, little league ball games, Friday concerts in the summer, and walks around town any day of the week - our community is full of wonderful experiences that we can’t wait to share with you.■
